Just me then? :(

I think the battery has been on it's last legs for a while but I'm guessing the cold killed it off this morning!

Anyone recommend a battery charger/optimiser?

LIDL do a nice charger/tender for like £5 alternatively look up one on eBay... Aldi/Netto ....

I did use a Solar-tender/trickle charger on my other bike (the one I left in GB) while I travelled through Africa ... all I needed to do was leave the battery near the window where the solar panel was, when I got back, re-fitted the battery to the bike and it was ready to go.

Mines been playing up the past week.. put a new one in last friday cause mine died about a mile from work, so i had to push it home lol.. But since putting the new one in, ive been fine.. I keep my bike in the garage so it dont get cold.. Dad had to stay up north cause it was good cold for him to come home yesterday after work and left his bike outside the hotel, was -6 when he got up at whatever time this morning and his petrol cap thing was frozen over lol

I use the Oxford Maximiser 3800, i normally put the bike on charge the night before i go anywhere, the charger will bring it back from the dead and then fully charge the battery ,then after its fully charged it will maintain it with a trickle charge, all i have to do is plug it in and press the on button lol ,it does cost £61.74 though. Oxford Maximiser 3800

not had any problems with starting, other than a couple of times where it's taken a while due to a cold engine.

I don't actually have any form of charger here as that allso stayed in France so if one morning it does decide not to start I'll be bump starting her

Mine struggled this morning, and wouldn't start at all at lunchtime. Hopefully it's just the cold and nothing more serious.

I miss having a kick start, I know kicking over an inline 4 600 would be basically impossible but it was always great to know you could always just kick the thing and it would go!

Just replaced my battery in order to get me to work tomorrow. Still debating which charger/optimiser to get.
Fingers crossed she starts in the morning!

I kicked, and I kicked, and I kicked, and I kicked, and I kicked, and I huffed and I puffed and I panted, and I kicked some more.

and I gave up, and hopped on the BMW instead, and bought some easy start on the way home.

I had to replace my battery a few weeks back, got fed up of bump starting her everyday!

I use the Dr Bike DR950 trickle charger, works fine and costs a lot less than Oxford's offerings. Appeals to my cheap side :-P

Will also probably last longer than anything made by Oxford, which is pretty much bargain basement quality at an inflated price in my experience

All my gear is Oxford and ive never had a problem with any of it, from tank bags to chargers and visor wash ,its all done what it says it will do, sometimes even better than it should and as you know from the NEC money is no object for me lol.

Try bumpstarting a v-twin 1000. THAT is almost impossible.

My ninja is still going strong, and it might sound odd but I miss having to run my rs50 down the road jumping up and down on it this time last year and having to blip the throttle like a mad man for the first few minutes to keep it alive. It gave the bike character !!

My CBR wouldn't start again this morning, so I jumped it using a neighbours car. I think there's an electrical problem though, it shouldn't just die whenever I leave the bike for four hours. I've unplugged all of ny electrical accessories to see if that makes a difference.

Bike started fine this morning with the new battery thank goodness. Hopefully my heated gear isn't running it down too much.

After my idiotic attempt to adjust the clutch to get rid of the excessive freeplay (Making it twice as bad) the bike starts, but as soon as its in gear it just starts rolling because the clutch, even though I am pulling it all the way in, Is still at biting point. I am going to get a new cable installed next week :)

Haha I did exactly the same almost due to the free play. Worked out well in the sense I can two finger clutch now however I discovered this week whilst trying to bump start my bike that even with the clutch pulled fully in, it's rubbing; not enough to move the bike but enough to make pushing it a pain in the ass.

Haha, It's just on the lip of the biting point where if I start it when in gear pulling the lever all the way in the bike starts to jump forward. I can only assume that the cable is stretched as I can't get the bloody thing tight haha

Are you guys only adjusting the clutch at the lever or are you adjusting it down at the clutch end? Often misconception is that the top end is the only place to adjust it. Over the years I've experienced many bikes have multiple adjustments other than just at the lever side. A bandit for example has 3... inline in the cable, at the clutch on the crank case and a further one behind a round bung on the crank case... I think you'll find the same with the SV too!
