Haha I did exactly the same almost due to the free play. Worked out well in the sense I can two finger clutch now however I discovered this week whilst trying to bump start my bike that even with the clutch pulled fully in, it's rubbing; not enough to move the bike but enough to make pushing it a pain in the ass.

Haha, It's just on the lip of the biting point where if I start it when in gear pulling the lever all the way in the bike starts to jump forward. I can only assume that the cable is stretched as I can't get the bloody thing tight haha
