Ozarks Meetup 2012

Through another event, I've heard rooms are getting booked up through April. If anyone is thinking about this, it would be a good idea to book your room now. You DO NOT have to leave a deposit to reserve a room. Please let them know you are with the MotoVlog group so they can try to keep us all close together. :)

Does everyone know that there is already an event planned at the hub that weekend?

Windriders--The Walt Calef Memorial Run

Is this the best weekend to do it? Might cause problems with rooms.

We'll change locations before we change dates. Yes, we know about the event, you need to book your room as soon as you can and cancel later if you can't make it.

I spoke with Debbie a couple of weeks ago about the Windriders and she told me it was about 10 -15 bikes, the same size as our normal group. The Hub has 55 rooms available. I don't see it being a problem. The following weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, is when everything gets booked up in that area. So far, the dates we have picked have worked out very well.

Also, you cant come unless you bring The Shakemiester with you. That guy is a fucking riot!!

lol, OK, I will ask him. He is STILL getting his bike repaired from his lowside on blood mountain.

Just talked to him. They have 35 rooms left. I told him to book 15 rooms for us under youtube motovlogger group. We can cancel the rooms if we have less than that coming.

662 miles from my house to dogpatch... hrm..................
Dogpatch? Whaaa?

Marble Falls was the location of an old hillbilly-themed amusement park, known as "Dogpatch USA". All that is left of it is a few log cabins and a cool looking little lake. Our MotoVlog group rode past it twice, the "tar-snakes" were really bad in that vicinity.

From what I understand the Hub IS the old amusement park.

Nah.... The motel is just down the road from the actual site, it's up on a hill. Dogpatch is right off 7, in the "holler". The "lake" actually had Trout in it that people paid to catch their lunch, lol. There was a little roller coaster and things to spend your money on. There are a few remnants still on the property, but it's been out of business, I'm guessing close to 30 years, so it's pretty dilapidated. My family went there once, I was probably 10 yrs old, lol.

I love closed amusement parks. Are there still rides on the property?

No, it's pretty overgrown with weeds and totally abandoned. Shame, because I think it could make somewhat of a comeback if they'd try something else more modern, perhaps like a nudist colony or something.

....And a great write up about The Hub http://www.tiedyetravels.com/2010/11/scenic-seven-survives-v-hub-rises.html?spref=fb
Sounds like it is going to be an awesome place!!

Nice link! So that's why that parking lot is so big, lol. I never put 1 and 1 together. I was just a little kid when we visited the park, I really don't remember if we parked up the hill or not.
Been by the HUB several times just to get off the bike and rest for a minute, but never slept or ate there. Then again, no telling how many times we rode right past the Ozark Cafe in Jasper and I never paid attention to it either.

Told you the Hub was on part of the old amusement park! :P BTW, didn't we stop at the Ozark Cafe the first year? When I kicked the camera off the bike at the bank and we had to go back after we ate to find it?

I was thinking that we stopped there every year we have been in the Ozarks.

We didn't stop there the first year I went to the Ozarks. But we went the second time I went. By the way, thank you very much for the meal, Wilks. :) It was sooo freaking delicious haha.
