Site owner, lovely and adorable
I thought Id try the YouTube subscribe button so people are all on the same platform. This allowed people to sub to your channel without leaving the site.

I had pretty clear instructions about only using a channel URL name but some people just couldn't work it out. I'm getting a ton of messages a day about it, not worth my time.

Sorry guys but some some of you ruined it for others.

Those who have it at the moment, it won't be removed

An issue I have with it is that YouTube changed their policy recently, so new channels cannot create a custom URL until they have 500 subs.

This would mean only the lucky people who set it up before the change, or the already successful channels could have the sub button, which defeats the noble ideal of it being equal for all.

Just to be clear, are you talking about creating a custom URL such as www.youtube.com/user/GHOSTNINJASD? I was just setting up my wife for her vlogs and could not figure out how I did that.

Yep, now the only way is to have over 500 subs or your own website where you can insert the YouTube code into to tie it to your account.

Linking Google+ to YouTube doesn't work on its own, you have to link Google+ to your personal website.

It changed only a few weeks ago.

Easy enough though, get yourself an Moonfruit page, free and easy, make sure you fill in the metadata.

Wow, glad I did it when I did. That does suck for new people. However I can understand the point. Less people taking up all the aliases. If you have 500 subs your probably going to stick around.

YouTube and Google stinks  . It's ironic, weren't they the champion of doing things differently 10 years ago :p ??? Now it's so predictable... We want your data!

Totally agree. They are making Apple look better and better all the time! But that's like saying that the uglier Susan Boyle gets, The more attractive Janet Street-Porter appears!

Either in your bed would give you nightmares, but then what about when you wake up?....

It's because there's no viable competition.

However, Google and YT provide a high demand service for free, and that many computers and that fat an internet connection costs a lot of money. They're open with what they do with your data if you read up, so up to you whether you want the free service for a bit of data mining, or create a fake account...

There are lots of things that open up on YouTube as you gain more subscribers... custom channel URLs, Live Broad Casting, Paid Per View content and some others I'm forgetting. It has always been that way and even in the early days getting anything custom like a banner took months to qualify!

All in all I think youtube is doing a very good job, but where they fail is subscriber interaction and channel modifications.

I never did know where you got that button from, and never did find a thread on how to do it. Felt like people were keeping it a secret. But I probably just missed the how-to thread somewhere
