Welcome to mymotorrad

Living in AZ now, from Long Island originally, I ride a 2009 R1200RT right now...What do I like? Lots of things. Real pizza, Macallan, BMW motorcycles, Dodge Challengers, 1970 Olds 442 W-30, Rush, Boston...Sometimes my kids...I am here because I heard about your forum from Motomengy.

Thought it must be a beemer fan with the name @mymotorrad .Welcome!
Beemer fan...If you go to my YT channel, I did a few videos touching on brand tribalism. I like BMW, but I'd buy other bikes too if I was carrying a little heavier and I've owned several Kawasaki's in the past. BMW is sort of an acquired taste and a little idiosyncratic. The bike/engineering and the company.

I'll definitely have a look at the video. I get the feeling that Motorcycling can be very tribal, especially sports vs cruisers. I didn't mean to come across as tribal or derogatory towards BMW. I just know they have their own tours called Motorrad Tours where you rent a BMw and go in a tour group. I too am a BMW fan boy, I would be getting myself a s1000rr if I had the dollar..... There's so many bikes I want but at present I'm working on convincing my soon to be wife that bikes are a little bit like tools or kitchen utensils, each and every one for it's own purpose, you wouldn't try to slice a piece of cheese with a pestle and mortar now would you??!! Let's see how long she stay's married to me when the next one turns up on the driveway haha.

I used to be a lot more brand tribal and then I starting thinking about how that is used to manipulate us with sports, religion and politics not to mention marketing in general and I found it a little facile on a level considering we're smart enough to realize we're being gamed, but I guess I am getting in the weeds. I wouldn't be able to ride a S1000RR at all, too tall and old/bad back and neck. I might like a new RT, but they have gotten a lot more expensive or the R18 Classic or a Road King or FLHP. Or all of that and more. The truth is, I'll probably get a new car before a new bike. I like the hemi challengers, in plum crazy or hellraisin.

Just Subscribed to your channel liked the video on Brand Tribalism!

I'm on a F800GS, it is very different compared to your RT.
Yes it is. Mine is an air/oil cooled boxer and yours is a parallel twin with a 270˚ crank, so it sounds like a vtwin. Lighter than my bike and made for non-pavement riding too. I don't ride dirt and never will anymore otherwise I'd probably have gotten a boxer GSA.

Welcome, and thanks for watching my channel! :D

Cool looking BMW too, I'm not sure I've ever seen one of those before.

I would think cops have RTs where you are. The cops have them here, everywhere. If you're talking about the R18 on my page, yeah, I haven't seen one but once on the road. They're pretty sharp in person.
