Welcome to FloridaMan

Hi @FloridaMan,

Welcome to MotoVlog.com.
Where are you from? What do you ride? Say hello, what do you like? Why are you here?

Got a photo of your bike?
Hey y'all happy new year! I've been riding for about a year and half now. Riding a '09 Suzuki Savage. Originally picked up my bike because it was a cheap way to commute, but I had no idea... Riding is now life. About to try out the motovlogging scene. Almost got my helmet setup the way I want it. Never even seen a motovlog until about two months ago. I'm super excited to get started and it would be great if this forum is able to help me out along the way and maybe I'll learn some and contribute my two cents. Happy to be here. Stay safe!

Hiya @FloridaMan welcome to the forum. How do you find the Savage? :)
I love it. I've only ever ridden cruisers so I can't compare to any sport bikes, but I think it's a great bike. Weighing only 380 pounds it's very nimble, easy to throw around, ground clearance is good and has more leg room than it looks. I'm 5 foot 10 inches with bad knees and I don't feel cramped at all on it. I've been on larger bikes that were far more cramped. I need to upgrade the seat, the stock cusion kills my tailbone after too long of a ride. Being a 650cc it's definitely a "starter bike". I wouldn't recommend anyone to start on anything slower, but with that said I don't think it's a bike that you "grow out of". Myself and everyone always want to be able to go faster, but it does the job. It's fast enough. I've heard people say that it can't do highway speed and I don't know how much those people weigh, but it can definitely go on the highway. On a good day I can run 105mph. Anything under 45 feels too slow and anything over 80 feels like you are starting to pushing it. There is only one road where I feel like the bike is not made for and that's here in Florida on Interstate 4. Traffic on i4 runs between 80-90mph if there aren't any jams. So when traffic is going that fast and the bike tops out at just +10mph it's not ideal. But it can do it. Now, Florida is the flattest state in the US so I have no idea how it actually does in the mountains. I picked mine up with 11k miles for $1700 and it was very clean. Not so clean anymore though. Gone down four times now.

I think a lot of folk assume that you can't do highway speeds and need a larger bike, because that is what they were told etc, I love smaller cc bikes, been riding 27yrs and have just got myself a 350cc and my previous bike was a 370cc, I also have a Moto Guzzi V7 which only has around 45bhp, lots of fun and perfectly capable machines. I hope you didn't hurt yourself in your offs?

I'm in Polk County. It's right between Tampa and Orlando. I've been watching Blockhead and Shadetree. Some of my favorite motovloggers. I'll have to meet up with them some time. Let me know if you're ever in the area. Always great to meet other riders. I'll link you to my YT channel once I have that going.

Great stuff man!

I'm going to meet up with Shadetree this year at the Dirty Shame so will give you a shout when its finalised :D

You would think after over a year of being on this forum I would have a channel by now. Hopefully I'll get some stuff filmed during this time off from work. You got a channel I can watch?

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I've been thinking about motovlogging since before gopros were a thing. I've even owned a few. I just bought a 7 and Im still unsure about it lol. I only have 2 videos on my channel and its just a ride with some music slapped on top. One is on the way to Daytona, the other is on the outskirts of las vegas. Nothing really special.
