Tyre Edges?

Any decent advice appreciated! Situation- new tyres, covered 150 dry miles, been through 4 heat cycles, washed to make sure all release agent is off, gently scrubbed with scotch pad, done circles in both directions and figures of eight, but still have an inch chicken strip on each edge of the tyre. Never gonna be valantino Rossi and get my knee down, but still want to get rid of another 1/2 inch of shiny tyre edge? Any ideas how to do this?

Do a track day and get the knee down thing over and done with ;)

To be honest the best way to get the bike over a bit more is to get your body position right in the first place.

What tyres are you using as well? What bike? The CBR?

p.s - The roads are still shit anyway so staying upright is better than trying to get the bike over more

Why would you need to wear down the tire edges anyway?

If it bothers you just lay it on the side and burnout away.

Yeah. Cbr600f. Bridgestone T30 Evo.

Why, because there will be a corner/bend that is sharper than I think and will need to lean further to get it round, would rather not find out how slippery it is at that mid corner point!!

If your new to biking do not worry about it, it will come with time. Sort your line and speed out before entering a corner and them there strips are gone.
Just youtube search - "Cornering bible - Twist of the wrist 2"

Unless they are Michelen tires there is no release agent on them. They are the only manufacturer that still uses it.

As for chicken strip removal. Who cares.

Watched your latest vid last night, that ding dong between the scooter and cyclist had me in stitches!!

I'm lucky as the way I ride means I don't have chicken strips ha - However, a mate who that does tracks and roads with me has massive chicken strips.....He'll still eat me alive on a less powered bike!

Speaks for itself!

Lol, to be fair it's not the fact that it bothers me getting ribbed for having chicken strips, more that I don't want to go sliding across the road should the shiny stuff decides it don't like me!

If you're tyres sliding then it's your throttle that will cause it!

I've taken brand new tyres round a track, knee down blah blah

It's extremely rare that a tyre is the issue in most cases

You are massively over thinking this, 50 miles is plenty, absolutely no need to be scrubbing the tyres with scotch pad, in fact its comical.

You need to relax, im sure there decent branded tyres, have confidence in them and ride your bike. Chicken strips count for nothing, riding your bike and enjoying it is what its about, when you build confidence the chicken strips will slowly go.
