so what do you talk about ?

So when you guys are out there recording how do you pick your topics ? Or do you just ramble about anything?

I just go around living my life and when something hits my mind that can make for a good vlog, I add it to this list.

That helps but I'm not much of a motovlogger yet. With only 2 vlogs up in 4 months.

I recently talked about cold weather riding because it was cold outside! I guess I pick my topic by what mood i'm in, mainly life topics but also some bike maintenance stuff as well!

I tend to think up a topic, I'll make a note on my phone as I have the memory of a sieve. If I'm off for a ride I'll see what ive noted, think up some "key points" (maybe), start the vlog, get in as much as I can, get home, see if I like it.

I generally watch other motovloggers' videos, which usually triggers an idea for me to go off what someone else has said or to respond to it, or my weird brain will just jump to something completely unrelated to talk about. Sometimes I just hop on the bike and wing it, but I like to have a general idea in my head before I set out. Helps to keep my mind on the topic, rather than just rambling on and on.

I've only just finished my first vlog and I did an introduction about myself, my bike & my ride. After watching a few vlogs out there it looks like not much is off limits to vlog about!

I generally blog about my life. But also if someone posts about something i find interesting, I give my opinion on that too.

I wing most of them, Guess i need to start prepping though. to cut down on the uhms and ahhhs

I generally post ride videos, so any talking you hear is me just rambling.
But I've done some "How-to" videos and those I plan somewhat.
On the other hand, I have my smartphone which will post directly to YT, so I've used that for short 1-2 minute clips that are on the spur of the moment. I feel it adds much needed variety to my channel.

At a minimum, I know what I'm going to talk about before I set off. Some of my vlogs require a little planning and research. If I still commuted I might do something on the fly, but that's not my strong point and would probably require a lot more editing to make it watchable.
You can get ideas from the news, bike mags, personal stories... anything you are interested in and think others may be too.
I try to keep it positive or light-hearted, as I find if someone is constantly bitching or complaining I can't watch them any more. The odd rant or serious topic is ok, just don't make a habit of it. Just my opinion :)

I completely agree that listening to someone bitch constantly is a turn-off, but some of my favorite videos are of riders just completely going fucking off in them. Weird, huh?

Before riding I usually think of a couple of catchphrases/words I want to talk about. However how I get to there and where I go from there happens naturally during recording. I might think of something even better and talk about that or do a new video within the current one. Welcome to Inception :D

So my videos are usually just 20-30% about the actual topic in the headline. But for some I have planned, which are rather scientific I need to do a lot of research first and write a script sort of so I won't loose track.
