Ozarks Meetup 2012

I kinda doubt it. I've only heard back from about 15 people. Though I'm going to be talking shortly with another handful (who probably won't go) and if they do all go we'll have about 20-22.

It's a shame so many people think the middle of the country is 'too far.'

Alright...the AZ/CA meetup that just passed has a pretty big turnout...wonder if this years Ozarks will be able to compare. They had 22, and the Ozarks have been growing in numbers each year.

Is it a competition? If so, I think we won by being first. Were there any big meetups prior to the Clarksville meetup a few years back?

Yeah, there was. Sorta. The first Deals Gap meetup was at least a year prior, but it wasn't as big. The 2nd DG meet was built on the foundation laid by the first one and had a pretty awesome turn out. Even though that meet happened a few months after the first Ozarks meet, I think it should take top honors as far as US meets go.

But I agree, it's not a competition.

Nah, not a competition. Although, if it were...it's not a fair one. A lot of the people at the CA/AZ meet did not have to travel as far since they already live near the San Diego area. With Ozarks...it's a lot further away for a lot more people.

I'm not sure about Chad. For me, it's more on the "no" side. Unless I sell my F4i and take my dad's Harley to the meetup. :lol: That would be quite an adventure.

I have my room booked, plans made but not sure if I will be leaving from Houston or San Antonio. Either way, I am going to be bored traveling on the Interstates to get there. Any Austin/DFW people going?

Ozarks is off, because there is a race that weekend and one of the assistant managers of my department is a CCS racer. It's one of the bigger races of the season, at Road America. He really can't miss it and it's the same weekend. With March-May being our busiest time of the year, they can't afford to be short two employees. He also won on seniority.

I was really, really, really, really bummed. My boss felt really bad and offered to let me take another weekend instead. So, I figured I'd head out West. I've always wanted to ride to the Southwest, so here's my chance.

I'll let you know particulars when I have them.

Mind as well take me off the list too. Completely out of money, and out of work as I'm trying to finish out my semester strong. I'm supposed to be going on a week-long fishing trip with my dad in the middle of May, so I won't really have the work to make the money before the time of the Ozarks trip. May be able to figure something out, but as far as I know, it's ToastNoGo.

I called the Hub to get rates for May 18th and May 19th. There were no rooms available. We were put on a waiting list. Please cancel your reservation with the Hub if you're not going to attend the Ozark's meetup. I need a minimum of 2 beds for four people. I was hoping to get two rooms.

The weather in Minnesota has been really warm. It was over 70 degrees (F) yesterday. We could get snow on Monday. I'm expecting to have nice weather for our motorcycle road trip in May.

We'll have to find a hotel in Jasper, AR if I don't get a room at the Hub. Any hotel recommendations would be appreciated.

I browsed motels in Jasper and Harrison. Does any one else want to stay at another motel? I don't want to share a room with someone I don't know. Plus I'll have three other people with me. It would be fun to hang out with other bikers at a another motel since the Hub is full.
