North East Scotland Newbie

Hi everyone, I've been lurking here for a while but I now have my vlogging setup ready to go so thought it was a good time to introduce myself.

I live in north east Scotland near Aberdeen (which means it's usually cold, windy and wet) and at the first sign of Spring I'll be out vlogging.

I've been riding about 3 years now and I currently have a 2002 Triumph Sprint ST (in sapphire blue naturally).

Is there anyone else active on here who is local to me? I've only recently moved here so would love to meet someone who can introduce me to some of the local biking routes.

Once I get my first blog online I'll fire up a link.

Thanks Ronin...I've been out today. Only 20 miles and a quick fuel up but man it felt good to be back on the bike.

Now I just need to wait for my ancient MacBook to do it's rendering/encoding thing and I'll fire up the results to YouTube.

Do you have an external HDD hooked up to the MacBook? I know it sounds crazy... though the HD video gets a little jerky when playing over USB or Firewire, but even so, it helps out a ton on the rendering and encoding. If the jerkiness of the video is too much on the external, once rendered, you can watch it on the main drive .

Some people agree / disagree about this... from my experience though, it really helps .

Just my two cents anyways .

What year is the MacBook, btw ???

I've already started so I'll let it run its course now but I'll follow the external HDD advice next time.

The MacBook is a mid 2009. Ram is maxed to 8gb but it's not the fastest.

8 gigs should give it a little kick, though . I bet the slower laptop HDD is not helping, also . Try sticking a laptop cooler beneath it, since processors in the MacBook, MacBook Pro and the like like to throttle when they get hot. Definitely, though, an doing all the work on an external (preferably Firewire 800)... that way the main HDD isn't doing double duty ...

Brilliant advice, I'll look to invest in a cooler in the near future. For now it's sitting on a wire rack we use for cooling cookies!
