My name is Chris, aka DoctorSpeedy1050. I am from Wyomissing, PA, USA and a second year medical student in Philadelphia, PA. I ride a 2011 Triumph Speed Triple 1050. I started vlogging after my gf bought me a Drift Ghost HD for Christmas, and have been wanting to vlog for a while now, but my GoPro Hero HD did not have a mic input.

Welcome to the forums :D Nice bike. How long have you been riding bikes? :)

I've ridden dirt bikes years ago, but I bought my first street bike in August 2012 (2006 YZF-R6) and sold it for a profit at the end of November after riding roughly 4,000 miles on it. The next day I bought the Triumph with 500 miles on it at the dealer after some guy traded it in because it was too crazy... he ended up replacing the speedy with a new bonneville.

Welcome!
Fantastic choice of bike ;) What colour is it? Any modifications?

I can actually totally understand this

BTW thank you DexterBikee and Chaîne de Mikesmotorbike for the subs!

haha no worries :P It's only Mikesmotorbike, the rest of it is some stuff in French that I haven't figured out how to get rid of yet

Yeah, the speed triple is sort of a handful. My Speedy is Diablo Red. I don't have many performance mods on it yet, but I plan on getting an exhaust in the spring. Here's video of my bike: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3zFMJmd58s

Half way through watching your video now. The Speed Triple is such a gorgeous bike, isn't it? :P

Yours looks awesome in red with the handlebar mirrors and seat cowl. I've got a genuine handlebar mirror but I've yet to fit it.

Just wondering - your tail tidy (I think you called it a fender eliminator? the R&G license place bracket) do you reckon you could fit the Triumph genuine small indicators (turn signals in your American speak) in the gap between the mount and the exhaust? Don't worry if you can't answer that, I was just thinking of getting one myself and don't want the indicators on that separate mount next to the back seat.

New exhausts are a great idea. I've been looking into it too - they're much lighter and smaller than stock.

I recommend getting the rear axle nut cover kit too - looks much better in my opinion.

I have the R&G "Tail Tidy" but I thought people just called those things fender eliminators usually. I know for a fact that the Triumph accessory LED Indicators will not require you to mount them the way I mounted the stock ones. You can mount them right above the license plate, and below the brake light. So they'd look really clean. I'm definitely replacing my front turn signals with the Triumph LED ones, and maybe replace the back ones too... it'll be much more functional than an integrated tail light.

I can't wait to get an exhaust on her. I'll have to find an axle nut cover that'll work on my bike, since it's different than the one they make for the pre 2011s. I've thought about axle sliders, but don't care for how they look.

Might be a difference of language across continents!

Sweet! That's great news :) thanks very much for the info.

Aftermarket exhausts do look loads better. I can't wait to get some too. I agree with what you said on your video about prefering the twin high exhaust over the single one on the side some people make. Having the twin exhausts makes it look so much more awesome in my opinion.

Triumph do a genuine axle nut cover. I've got it next to me at the moment, as I'm yet to fix mine to my bike. It looks so much better than just a gaping hole on the back wheel.

I'm thinking of buying a slightly used set of arrow high mounts off ebay for $600ish. I definitely like the look of the rear axle nut cover. Looks super clean!

Welcome! I'd love a ST but I'm rather afraid insurance would see me off....how much is yours to insure if you don't mind me asking?

I'm 23 and a male... so I only have liability and theft coverage (comprehensive). I think it costs me about $280 a year with a $1000 deductible. I actually got a refund from my insurance company when I switched the coverage off of the R6... so at least the coverage is cheaper for the Speed Triple than a 600 super sport.

So I've been working on my channel recently and uploaded some new videos. Do you guys think I should work on improving audio quality? Or should I work on the less technical aspects of vlogging (i.e., commentary/riding) before I go waste more time fiddling with my setup? I have an Arai RX-Q btw and am using the Drift Ghost HD with the Drift external mic... between my cheekpad and helmet shell without the foam covering on the mic. Is there any dead cat that'll work with the Drift mic to eliminate all wind noise, or is my audio good enough?
