so if anyone wants to avoid this stupid licencing regime in 2013 go take your full licence this year so you don't have to do loads of stupid tests before 2013 and wait 4 years before you can ride any bike

Christ !, I'm glad that i am doing my DAS in May.. I couldn't deal with something like this.

It seemed more confusing than anything else, IMO. :?

Absolutely ridiculous! Wish they'd stop messing with bike laws!
it should be car laws they should be messing with not bike laws

Exactly! Because i'm doing my restricted access this year i'll be 24 before i can have a decent sized bike!

Don't jump the gun though, MCN has a habit of overdramatising things. Anyone remember MAG last year, scaremongering 1000s of bikers into protests against things that had all ready been quashed, making a fortune for themselves in the process.

Arrrrggghhh!!!! Can you imagine if they did a similar thing to car licencing laws?

Well I feel sorry for the people who will have a nightmare of a time getting onto two wheels, but at the same time I'm relieved I've got it all out of the way. Yes, to anyone who is thinking about getting their full licence, DO IT NOW!

that said, it will reinvigorate the 125, 250 and 400cc classes!

True, At least Manufacturers will create more of a competition with each class.

Although I heard somewhere that the EU are trying to stop modifications etc to our bikes ?. I may have been making this up, not sure.

That's EU stuff was MAG trying to make money. The EU rejected the proposed idea, banning mod etc. But MAG didn't tell anyone, held mass protests, and signed up loads of new members in the process. They made themselves £1000's.

Read this in this weeks MCN, Utter crap! Luckily I turn 21 this year so I won't be effected by it, Feel sorry for the young'uns who have to go through the time increase

Ah Yes, Thieving Swines. Sometimes I get the feeling that the motorcycle world is as corrupt as FIFA.

Manufacturers won't go out their way to create a new bike because we have changed the way it takes to obtain a full licence.

People that signed up didn't just do it for that one protest, MAG looks after alot of the biking laws they just don't publicise everything, They have helped our biking laws for years just because they 'might' have made money shouldn't be a reason to dislike what they do. Your lucky you did your tests as you have done. The new tests should have been put in place alot sooner but MAG stepped in.

MCN didn't have anything bad on the MAG protest, if people are hating at MCN you should think again, 3 of them Rode to Belgium to talk directly to EU MP's. MCN asked a MP which is a biker to tavel over with them and fight our point across.

So really MCN did best on our part, & yes people protested & said it was a waste of time because it had already been called off thats because MCN & others had gone days before.

They've upped the power from 33 - 47bhp so that isn't too bad. That means to can get straight on a GS650 without restricting it. <I know i'd ride a GS650.

GS500
Er5-n

These are both under 50bhp so to be honest it isn't that bad. + you can restrict pretty much any bike.

I don't like MAG becaus they delibrately misled bikers. Holding a protest, when the reason everyone was there was no-longer a problem.

I didn't say MCN deliberately lie, I was on about MAG then. Just saying that MCN sensationalise things regualry to sell papers.

The 2nd part wasn't aimed at you, sorry I should have spaced it more.

MAG should have let people know as soon as they knew, but it's faster to spread the word than it is to change it.

they might have told people, but too many people had already arranged it. Or hadn't heard it had been cancled?

As far as I'm aware they where still telling people about the 'shocking', by then no-existent proposals, on the day. Maybe I jumped to conclusions over the whole affair, but I think they misled and lied to those they're supposed to represent.

Getting back to the topic, these laws are rediculous.

Everyone who can do their bike test this year, should. You won't be effected by the new laws.
