Last person to use my Drift Hd 170 Stealth was my friend. He went to a car wash even though i said not to and washed his bike, I know Drift's are waterproof but i'm thinking it may of done it. When he used it he couldn't turn it off so he pulled the battery out even though i said no.

The camera will not turn on, The battery had about half a charge left. I've tried connecting it to my laptop via the cable but it will not show any sign of existence on my laptop or camera. It used to load before & there's been no changes to my laptop.

I've removed the battery and memory card & put them back in but nothings changed.

Is it worth taking it somewhere to try be fixed or just get a new one?

make sure the battery is in correctly and that the memory card is in and then try plugging it in your laptop but if it is still not working try sending it the drift company and they should sort it out for you if it still has warrenty on it.

Take the battery out along with the memory card, you can actually withdraw the battery tray. (See videos on YT)

Get a hair dryer (dont direct it directly at it) about 25cm away, wave it over it.

May need drying out, when my phone got wet I did this, has worked without a problem since.

Just an Idea incase you haven't tried it.

Leaving it with the back end open battery and memory card out, preferably battery end facing down try drying it out, it may take a few days, you can try blow drying it as azzer says. It won't hurt contacting drift about it,did your friend have the back open when washing his bike? If he didn't it should still be covered by the warranty just leave out the pressure washer part of the story, intact I believe it was just a typical rainy day wasn't it? :D

I would try the drying method as people say, but since you plugged it in to the PC there may have been charge which damaged the camera. No harm in trying.

I would also give your friend a link to buy a new drift!

This.

I took the battery & Sd card out after the replys this morning & just put them back in, The camera turnt on and is now charging except my laptop will not recognize it as a camera now and won't load anything just charging.

Should i just leave it charging then leave it to dry a bit longer? or what shill i do?

I don't have a clue on getting stuff to recognize on pc's / laptops.

Try a memory card reader? or maybe your laptop has a memory card port?

I'd leave it to dry untill you know it's completely dry. Poss use a hair dryer for a minute or 2.

If its not recognised as a camera anymore and the water damage marker isn't marked, you could claim on warranty.

Also try putting it in a bag of rice, the rice will draw any water out, without creating condensation.

Someone watches The Gadget Show :) I was going to post this but I thought I might got a few weird comments back.

Rice does work surprisingly.

Hmm is that where it came from, i just heard it from a mate.

wow you've been having loads of bad luck atm. Yeah rice works a treat my sister dropped her phone down the toilet once (TMI?) but rice fixed it up. allso Svengali (a YT vlogger) went and found a GPS in a big puddle that his mate dropped on a fall, stuck it rice for a week and it was good as new. though what did he do? sit on the bike with the camera running in the carwash?

hope you fix it soon mate.

I think your friend owes you a new Drift if you ask me!

Rice and silica are both good suggestions for drawing the moisture out. Stick it in an airing cupboard for a couple of days. You may have given it the kiss of death in trying to turn it on without letting it dry fully though.

Sadly i doubt he'd agree to replace the Drift.

I just tried turning it on after leaving it to dry for a few more hours & using a hair dryer for a minute as said and now it won't turn on again. I contacted Drift and waiting to hear about the warranty as i bought it myself 2 days before christmas so it should have warranty still.

Just put it in a bag of rice to dry out then i'll try the cuboard idea!

You need to leave it off and be patient, turning it on part wet will result in damage.

You also need to go and give your friend a knuckle based sandwich and try and knock some sense into his bloody thick head.

He owes you a drift, simples. What a douche.

Your friend screwed up your property and you don't think he would agree to replace it?! You're friend sounds like a douchebag. You need to find some new friends.
