Mobile usage? Browser vs Tapatalk...

Yet another question as I plan for the summer refresh (for the mobile users):

Would you prefer Tapatalk (forum specific app) or would a responsive mobile theme (to be viewed in your mobile browser) be better?

never attempt tapatalk it looked like crap i would prefer a mobile theme thats as functional as the desktop site

I use tapatalk, it's pretty easy and convenient to use, so I'd probably still use that.

Here's the monkey wrench: Tapatalk bones the forum from Adsense. The site makes no revenue from topics viewed in Tapatalk. If everyone migrated to a mobile-friendly site in their mobile web browser, we'd still get the page views.

Just a thought. All the forum software I'm looking at still is compatible with the TT plugin.

(Ironic that I'm posting his from tapatalk, eh?)

I prefer a mobile browser as opposed to tapatalk, purely for the fact that TT doesnt load properly for me on anything other than a wifi connection, and I like browsing the forums while I'm on break at work.

Plus, it'd be better if the forum could still make money from the page views. I mean, its a free to join forum, but servers aren't free.

It's up to you really though.

But if you had a mobile version of the site that worked very similar to the way Tapatalk works, I have no problem putting a shortcut link to the page on my phone screen.

I could go either way as tapatalk 2 is great for mobile browsing... but for posting I prefer to head to a browser and tapatalk 2 has issues playing YouTube videos for me.

If it was a good mobile theme I would probably use that... but I haven't really seen one for forums.
