So I've been watching a number of motovloggers for a while and commenting (hopefully positively) on many of them. I blame Extreme601 and Billmaa for my interests as they were the two who I watched a lot a the start but I'm now subscribed to quite a number of folks here.
I attempted to create my first vlog yesterday at my local dealer's Kawasaki 2012 model launch, but that ended in abject failure as it was a tiny showroom and packed full of people so I couldn't get a good panoramic shot of the bikes and I certainly wasn't going to start talking to the camera for the first time in a room full of 60-80 people, lol....
So, a little about me. I'm Yarek and I'm Scottish - living up in the north of Scotland. I'm old enough to be most people on here's dad and much to my shock/annoyance, I discovered there's even a few I technically am old enough to be their grandad! Yup, I'm 30-12, sounds better than 42
Until last year in June 2011 I'd never sat on a motorcycle other than this one time (not at band camp!) when I got a lift home from a workmate. I then did my CBT and got hooked, so ran out and bought a used Honda CBF125 immediately. Three months later I took my DAS and passed my test first time (technically I passed my Mod2 at the second time of turning up at the test centre, but I'll explain that in a reply after).
Since passing I have been following vloggers and being desperate to get myself my first big bike. That didn't happen, but I've been preparing up to now by getting myself a GoPro HD Hero 2 at Christmas time and waiting until finances dictated I could go buy that bike.
Today I went to the Honda dealer with my wife to show her the new Honda CBR600F that I was interested in, along with the Triumph Street Triple I've already taken for a test ride. Imagine my surprise when I see a used Triumph Street Triple R in the showroom (they're not a Triumph dealer) and it was at a great price with options I wanted. I now am the proud owner of a 2010 Matt Orange, Triumph Street Triple 'R'!!! I'll pick up the bike either this weekend or next hopefully - weather dependant (helpfully there's snow forecast for tomorrow) and will vlog the pickup - my voice will likely be a few octaves higher than normal though and you aren't likely to hear a cohesive Yarek on the mic, let me tell you, lol.
Anyway, thanks for all the inspiration guys and I look forward to being around here for a bit
