Let's Beat A Dead Horse Drift Hd Night Set Up

Just wondering, and before you say google, I have. I know how I set up my drift hd for night ridding, and I know the drift cams get a bit grainy in the dark, so I thought I would ask here. Thoughs of you with drift cams, how do you set up your camera to get a better video in the dark. That said PLEASE POST YOUR NIGHT VIDEOS IN HERE FOR COMPARISON.

Here is my video for a sample, taken with 0 exposure at 1080 30fps playing at a max 720 in compression.

So lets see em'!

I mess with the contrast and color in Vegas Pro. That said, my night shooting isn't all that.

720 @ 30fps (the best I can do without Vegas crashing in the middle of rendering)Contrast is at 0.17 the brightness is 0 and the contrast center is 0.30. I also didn't use the "night" setting on my camera. It's just the regular day setting.

I don't know about Drift, but for GoPro, Hero2 sucks in low light, but Hero3 is good. Sorry if I'm being off topic.

Drift night shot does get more light, but it's grainy. I do better using the regular day setting and tweaking the contrast later. Still a bit grainy, but until I win the lottery, it's what I have.

Nothing special but I did a quick edit with a night clip. Only spent about 2 min on adjustments but I think with some more tweaking the outcome could be pretty good. Filmed with drift hd ghost 1080p @ 30fps on regular day mode.

Been jacking around with it, I found if I do the highest exposure I can turn the contrast back down in Imovie giving a clearer picture, Now to get the random wine out of the mike.

Love recording at night, so far the basic gopro 4 doesn't do too bad of a job, could be better. Love to get Vegas and try to adjust night shots myself also.

If I'm Being Honest ..

I started with the Drift Ghost HD and after the disappointment that I got for night shoots (or even going under a bridge !!) I put the money out for a Hero 4 black. I'm being pretty blunt here ... there is a reason that GoPro is winning the action camera industry. I love the drift for durability but had a problem with drift and my gopro at the same time .. GoPro mindlessly sent me a replacement with little hassle and Drift gave me all the excuses under the sun! If your camera isn't the best then your customer service should be top of the game ... I hated the idea of the GoPro .. now I love mine ... what can I say?

I still use my Drift as a backup camera which is always mounted on the side of my helmet so if my GoPro dies while riding I can turn the Drift on with little to no issues ... and that way I at least have something recording ... all the time!

Use a free program called audacity ... you can edit out that pitch .. look at Youtube .. I had to do it for every one of my video's ... it's a know issue with Drift cameras!

Drift UK pissed me about with my HD. Got Drift HQ involved and boom a new canera came, box fresh.

Wasn't Action Cameras, the shop I bought it from get theirs from Nevis who deal direct with Drift, but Nevis did their own warranty investigation and between them and who they deal with they can't tie their shoe laces.
