Just been quoted £979.00 for a 01' ZX400, TFPT.

This would be a track bike, but would rather ride it to the track, than take it in a van.

My current insruance is almost half that & my bike puts out more power & is a bigger CC. Pretty much everything about my current bike is bigger than the ZX, yet I'm getting quoted more.

Werid ey? All I'm bothered about within insurance NCB, is being able to get them protected. That way I'm not as bothered about the price of insruance, as I won't be pressured into not taking it for a good run, or just ride like a nun everywhere.

Anyone else been getting butt fudged from insurance latley?

Everyone under 25 gets fudged by insurance. Its a right annoyance!

Tell me about it, by the time I get to 25 I should have racked up about 7-8y/s NCB. Providing I can get to 4 & protect them. Not far to go.

by the time you get to 4 they will change the legistlation saying you now need 5 yrs in order to protect them :P

I'd be surprised if they even kept the legistlation about being able to protect them.

Just done another quick search.

It's cheaper for me to insure a 2004 R6 than it is to insure a Kawasaki Er6-n. Haha. WTF Moment or what?

I know. When I was looking for a bike I had a look at the ER6 range. So expensive when compared with more powerful older bikes. That is why I got the fazer, same price to buy, but more powerful and way less expensive to insure.

Is the ER6 anomaly because with the low down torque they're great bikes to restrict - hence proportionately younger riders are using them and having more accidents? Total guesswork, but I can see no other argument that makes any sense why it would cost more than an R6!

IT IS NOT JUST BASED ON CC!

Insurance quotes work on risk, if there have been more major claims from people riding ZX400s than SV650s then they are a higher risk bike meaning higher insurance quotes.

At renewal time for my YBR I was quoted £580 by my insurance company, switched and got it down to £330 with 1 years NCB

A Versys or BMW G650GS will cost me £25 more, an ER6F will cost £80 more!

At the end of the day, Its still much cheaper than car insurance
Horrible 2001 Skoda 1.1 £3000 to buy, £3200 to insure

For that much, I could buy and insure most sportsbikes from that era!

Whaaa? How is your insurance so cheap!

No shit sherlock.

I gathered its more than just CC, if you had read my later posts I said its a WTF moment.

& nowhere in my posts did i mention a SV650, this shows you didnt read it propperly.

I also ticked the Track Insurance box & it only using upto 1k miles road use.

I bet a R6 has a higher crash rate than a er6, yet its cheaper to insure a r6. Go figure.

Jesus christ mate take a chill pill, I scan read the thing, and you were basically asking why, so i answered, you ride an SV, so it's a good example!

Only trying to help!

Im as chilled as a cucumber.

Well looks like we've both tried to help each other out at some point of being on this forum.

Scan reading is lazy, if someone has put the effort into to read a subject then why would you decide to only read half the words, It's pretty rude.

Scan lazy effort subject decide half words pretty rude, on the plus side there can't be any grammar remarks from scan readers :)

On the other hand some of us have a job, a levels, uni applications, student finance and organizing events for the entire 6th form to do, and choose to spend our spare few minutes spread over several forums trying to help people.

Apologies if that's a sin.
