Had a good two hour bike ride in multiple types of road settings today, and in the rain, to try and get more experience on the bike (passed CBT 1 week ago). Slowing down from a dual-carriageway to a roundabout, and my front wheel locks and the bike sort of falls, though I don't fall off it, I sort of fall on it. As I'm getting back up, I hear a car directly behind me tooting. I was on the sodding floor, what was I expected to do? Guh.. and people round here seem to like breaking the speed limits. T'is dangerous times. Shaken up now, frightened to go back out tomorrow. lol Anybody else had any such experiences with mishaps or impatient car drivers?
 
Not had the same problem with people, but after a crash just try to carry on riding as normal. Believe it or not this is a good thing, now you know what the wheel feels like as it begins to lock up and in future will hopefully instictivly be able to prevent a full lock up, and dropping the bike. :)
How's you and the bike btw?
 
Ha, perhaps. I was told that everybody falls off and crashes at some point. Not crashed yet but, here's hoping, one of these days.. :P

The bike is absoloutly fine. It's got a nice big pair of crash bars, but even they aren't touched. It sucks since it was during rush-hour and it was very busy. My hearts still beating quite quickly, it had been a brilliant day too. ha But yeah, the bike's fab, thank god.

How's your Kawasaki treating you these days?
 
Sorry to hear about your fall and experience with an idiot. Glad that you and the bike are ok though.
 
Haha, yeah, it makes sense. I'm getting a pretty good feel for my bike (did CBT on a different 125) I think you were trying to sell your older bike weren't you? How has that gone?
 
My moped, went straight from moped to full bike. Its in bits at the minute, took of all the panels off to rub down and re-spray. And will give the whole bike a general going over. Hopefully will get round to selling it soon.
 
Oh yeah, of course! Sorry, I was thinking of "ToastToGo" for a second there. Yeah, I remember the moped. I've seen a lot going around now-a-days, you should hopefully be able to get rid of it pretty soon. Hope it didn't cost to much for the re-spray.
 
Falling is all part of the learning curve, you just MUST ride again tommorow, leave it a week and you may never get back on, you'll see in the video i'll post tonight how i've learned to deal with wheel locking :)
 
when you crashed the bike did you manage to get it back up and ride home/ where you were going?
 
Good thing you are ok. Dust yourself off and get back on. Screw the asshat that was honking. Most cagers hate motorcyclists. It's their problem.

Ha, thanks Curly, I'll definetly keep an eye out for that video! Yeah, it should be a nice DRY day tomorrow, so I'll be back out there! And yeah, rather than me falling to the side, I was able to kinda land with my feet on the ground, so I quickly just got it back up and kept riding. So embarassing, but hey, at least I didn't damage myself or anyone else. Yeah, I've already recieved some hatred from cagers, it's pretty infuriating. :@
 
You're in a helmet and armoured kit.

Drop the already dropped bike (you mentioned it has engine bars), step off of it, walk towards his car slowly and menacingly (note the registration)....

Tap on his window, wait for him to wind it down and just say "problem?"

If he kicks off, use your knuckle armour in your gloves.

If he apologises, say thank you and be happy you've put him back in his box.

If he rants, question his parentage, inform him about your sexual relations with his mother and suggest he does the same.

Then walk off and sort your bike out. :)

you'll find cagers are hard asses inside their metal cocoon, confront their rude behaviour or just ignore it, some people are just Caring, Understanding Nineties Types.

Hahaha, that's genius. And if it's a woman, I can just go up to the window and say "So you honked at me, mind if I honk you?" or would such an act place me in a jail cell? ha

Lol it'd be fair game.

If they're honking, take it that they don't know whats just gone on and would like you to tell them the situation.

If they're ranting as well, let them rant. Anything that keeps them there longer means you're winning. ;)

Make sure you ride again as soon as you can, that's what I had to do when I crashed after getting forced off the road by a cager.
 
Don't worry about it mate, last year I dropped my previous bike on a snow/ice covered road in town at about 10mph. This irritated the car drivers behind me seen as I had very rudely blocked their way, so they decided to try and squeeze in-between my bike and oncoming traffic rather that wait for 30 seconds to let me pick it up.

It happens mate, but don't let it get to you, I would say that every time you fall off you become a better rider, as you can learn from your mistakes. Like others have said, get on the bike tomorrow and ride it, that's the best way to get your confidence back. :)
 
Thanks guys. I suppose I have to fail quite a bit, I've only been out my CBT a week! And Dave, that absoloutly sucks man, the people round here seem so impatient. I dunno, maybe it's just because I'm a Scot living in England. I'll see how the riding goes tomorrow after cleaning all the dirt-water marks off my chrome. :(
 
Only in England would you get someone as stupid as that.

Whoever said about drivers only being hard in their cage was totally right.

God bless their ignorance.
