Hey,

New member. I’ve been riding for a little over 7 years and have just started shooting with helmet and action cams on my Kymco Downtown 300i. In real life I’m a college professor, film maker and animator. Just documented a trip from Philadelphia to Ottawa, Canada and back and shot another film before that. Currently I’m waiting to see if I will get the rights to a U2 song to go with the film.

Hope to learn from, and get to know like minded riders and film enthusiast.

Ive found it isn't a problem using songs but you will not be able to monetise any video with copyrighted content.
On my other channel I used a Sia song and YouTube then gives the owner of the copywritten content the option to monetise your video.

Thanks everyone. Technically you can still be sued even if you’re not making money off of someone’s copyrighted material if they deem you are overexposing it to a demographic or market. I’m also looking to place the film in festivals, as well as TV, so having a licensing agreement is necessary. Like writing, of you can gain the trust and comfort of a big record label with their work it makes it easier to get others rights from other labels and musicians. Keeping mu fingers crossed.
