Hallo From Norway

F4celess

Cold
F4celess here.

Posting from the icy and flat-ish parts of Norway called Hedmark.
I just recently signed up for MC training courses after 6 years of being a cager. I missed the freedom of my Husquarna WR50 so much that I decided to get on a big bike when I turn 24.
While I do that I'm studying art and design for game development at the local University College. If all goes well I'll be a working Concept Artist next year. Beyond that I sink my time in photography, computers and appreciation of mechanical beasts.

As mentioned I just recently signed up for the courses, starting in april. Its way too wintery for me to get any sort of traction going, so I'll stick with my car for now. When the roads dry up I'll buy a moped(with gears) while I wait for the opportunity to take my A license.

I have been interested in Vlogging for a while, tried doing it while driving my car but the lack of excitement in driving a commuter killed it. and my Mazda MX5 is too noisy to vlog from with the top down.
Having collected a decent amount of gear like GoPro's and softwares I figured I'd put it to use on my 2 wheel shenanigans. I expect to vlog my way from cager to mopedist to full-on touring biker.

I got a GoPro with an excessive variation of mounts at the moment, As well as a DSLR with a shotgun mic and tripod/monopod. I'll prob do a single chin-mounted camera while riding for now, and expand on it later.

On that note, I'm trying to decide if I want to go subs or dubs. Or rather, captions being added sometime after upload or wonky Norwenglish in the audio.
You could make a short video with half dubb and half sub and ask people to vote on what they prefer.

That could work, I'll give it a shot when I get on a bike in march, thanks.
Until then, practice! also figuring out my motovlog style/theme. Probably going to use concept art and drawing as a focal point. We'll see.

Hello and welcome :)

I'd say keep the audio original and just put subtitles. Similar to "OrdinarySwedishMealTime" :) (I think that's what the channel is called)

Thanks, yeah I guess I'll do that in the beginning and see what the feedback is, then try a split up video so people can hear the difference.

Personally I don't think you'll get much positive feedback having a dubbed video. I know of at least one vlogger where his videos sounded like they were dubbed and there were quite a few comments complaining about. But it's worth a try to see what your subs think :)

Your in a helmet, nobody can see your lips move I'd say you can get away with dubbing if needed.

yeah, I misused the word dub, I meant that I would simply speak in English instead of Norwegian when recording. Part of the reason I want to motovlog in the first place is the lack of Norwegians vlogging in general according to my peers. And according to the map service connected to this site there is no active Norwegian motovloggers atm. Never found any in the Norwegian biker forums either.
I dunno if proper dubbing would benefit me much though. Half of the flair of motovlogging for me is creating the content on the bike. Otherwise I could use any footage and slap the voice on top of it.
I expect to do it briefly when the footage doesn't allow using the original or I need to add comments to it. AndyManCam did this a bit iirc.

I have plenty of time to think about it. And after a while I can look at the statistics to see what language would cover the most of my audience.

Ah right. I get it now. It's completely up to you. :)

Hi, F4celess. You wouldn't happen to be a member of r/ArtBuddy would you? Your name (and background) is strongly familiar.

Regardless, welcome! I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here. :)

Ah, okay. I used to frequent the IRC as well.

Intersting, what nick did you go by in the chat?

Finding fellow ArtBuddy users here is quite the coincidence I guess, its a fairly specific subreddit themewise.
Weird how small the internet is despite its vastness.
