Can you recommend a second cam?

Hi all,

I am after a second cam to attach to my bars as a secondary viewing angle.

What do you recommend? I have seen the gopro session however dont know anyone that has used one.

Thanks

I use a GoPro Hero 5 Session on my bars for shorter rides. On a Harley you would probs want a camera with stabilisation if bar mounted, the Hero 5 Session has stabilisation.

I've been a drift user for quite a few years now, however I would also recommend the sesion for a 2nd camera.

Having recently made the switch I'm actually thinking of getting another one.

Ah brilliant! Thanks for the feedback guys!

With my bike having the revolution motor it doesnt really vibrate as much as the air cooled HDs so hopefully i will get away with it :D

I use a Hero4 session and a couple Hero4 Silvers along with Samsung Gear 360 2017. They all do fine with the TC vibes so your V-Rod should be fine with just about anything.

What’s your budget? My last two vlogs were about how I lost my second camera (it literally few off my mirror) and the next one revealed my replacement (TEC bean 4K Ultra - the same I had before). At $50 plus a boat load of accessory mounts and extra battery., the quality isn’t bad, but no where near a real 4K cam. I’m happy with the results at 1080p 30 FPS. It can do time lapse, phots and photo burst as well.

Havent really got a budget in mind tbh!

Dont want to spend anything crazy as ita just to provide a secondary viewing angle toy vids.

Ill certainly check the TEC Bean cam out though!

I know people that use the same make of camera they already own and then buy the wireless remote so the recordings at the same time as both cameras are paired to the one remote.

Does the session 5 shoot at 2.7k 60fps? Thinking of getting one, but want to match the hero4 quality I use. Cheers.

no, the session 5 shoots 2.7k at 48fps max. I run mine at 30fps on Wide, but don't use it for a headcam or forward facing bike cam so don't need a higher fps

Yes, saw yours on the new Trumpet Street Triple - like that setup. I have an old "Coleman" 1080p 30fps for my secondary cam, but the poor thing has taken some real abuse and the mic has gone awol. Great camera for testing new angles and sligtly more risky shots...it has saved my GoPro many times - including the time it got caught in the rear wheel spokes of my husaberg and it shot off at hypersonic speed into a cedar tree. Spent a good few minutes looking for her that day! Still running when I found her!

I see people mentioning the session. The only downside is that it doesn't have a removable battery (I think.) That would mean no swapping for fresh batteries. As long as that isn't a problem the size of it would be great as a second camera. Could also hook it up to a portable power bank and charge it on the go.

Other option would be to pick up a used older go pro or check out SJcam, they make pretty good cameras at a cheaper price than go pro.

I'm thinking of a session 5 (want the 2.7K 30+fps) - just a bit too pricey. I have a noco battery backup, so the replacement batteries shouldn't be a problem. If I could find a refurbished 4 black, I'd go for that.

I would second this. I ride with 2 Hero 5 Sessions. One on my helmet and one on my bars.

I run a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition, I bought it second hand. Put a new battery in it too. It does the job.

The handlebar camera is a camera you can honestly.. turn on and off as much as you like.. so battery wasn't so important either.
