13 year old boy killed by American police

This isn't the place for this sort of discussion. Move it to the thunderdome if you want to start that sort of shit. And it's ridiculous that you've lumped all Americans in to this one action. It could've just as easy happened in any other part of the world where a police officer with a gun feels threatened by something that looks like a real weapon.

Also, a policeman*, or the police, not a police. And it's their* finger, and thoughts*.

By Americans I mean the police they like shooting
It's your OPINION that the police like shooting. I have several family members in law enforcement and not a single one of them goes to work wanting to use deadly force on another person. I'm an American and I don't want to shoot people, but I will if it's to defend my own life.

I don't mean it like that those police should have been at tad easy on a 13 year old child?

What you have to understand is we grow them big here. My 13 year old is as tall as I am and when someone points a gun at you you don't have time to ask them how old they are and determine they're not a threat. You also don't have time to stare at the gun and make sure it's just a toy.

The kid was told to put the gun down. Now maybe he spun around to show the cop that it was a pellet gun and that's why the cop shot him. I don't have all the facts. But that's not what you do when I cop tells you to drop the gun. You just drop the damn gun.

I've had a gun drawn on my by a cop and I'm willing to bet the only reason I'm here to talk about it is because I was very careful and complied with what they told me to do. My wife, a photographer, and I stopped near a bridge and we were taking pictures. She had her nice DSLR camera and I had a video camera. It was the kind you hold upright with the lens on the top and a flip out screen on the side. The way I was gripping it it may have looked like a gun. Someone passing by saw me pointing it at my wife as she walked down below the bridge. They called the cops and a lone cop showed up. As I was walking back up the hill he was coming toward the edge of the hill. He drew his gun and said freeze. I did. He said lower the gun. I realized he thought I had a gun and slowly lowered it and put it on the ground while explaining to him that it was a camera. He walked over and verified it was a camera, asked my wife to come up, verified that we didn't have a gun and there weren't any dead bodies under the bridge and then we had a bit of a laugh about it. Had I lifted it to show him that it was a camera he probably would have shot me and he would have gotten away with it too because that would be seen as a threatening move. That's just the world we live in. If a cop tells you to lower your weapon and you're holding a camera or a pellet gun, raise one hand in the air and put whatever you have in your other hand on the ground.

I'm willing to bet the kid raised the gun to show him that it wasn't real and the cop thought he was about to fire on him. They have a hard job and sometimes they make mistakes because the people they're dealing with make the wrong move. It's easy to say after the fact that he shouldn't have shot a 13 year old with a pellet gun. It's much harder to make a split second decision in the moment when you think you're about to be fired on.

I guess when it's put like that! Here in the UK police only have tazer guns.
Our police try and defuse the situation rather than shoot them!
Do a search on a chap called Raul moat he held a gun to police in the UK they got it under control and as a officer walked up to him he took his own life.

No mate, here in the UK, our police have guns too. Jeez. Stop trying to generalise. Google Jean Charles de Menezes, a man misidentified as a fugitive. On Road Wars, they showed an armed response team called to a kid playing with an airgun shooting rabbits. That could have easily as have turned sour as the unfortunate incident in the US. It was a matter of circumstances, not a matter of one set of police being better than the other.

Have to remember that one day before a 12 year old went into a school in the US with a proper gun!

Many people hate the police for little reason; they just have no comprehension of how difficult their job is, and what they may perceive is an issue when you are doing something innocent is that the innocent person MUST take their question seriously, because they believe they have a serious issue to handle.

All well and good taking the piss out of a cop because he is misconstruing something, but do it after you have clarified the situation, not in the middle of it

Hahahaha wow you guys think I am trying to say British police are better? No I made a comment on American police shooting a 13 year child. That's all.
Every time I flick on the news there always something to do with "some" Americans not all Americans I don't stereotype people like that, shooting each other??
That's what I see I wanted to hear what people thought of the situation, I don't want a stupid argument breaking out, Christ people back off can a guy make a comment with out getting my balls broken?

Cant we all just get along?

I put an innocent post wondering what people thought and why do I always see police killing people. But. People like to create arguments but that's fine freedom of speech lol I am happy to drop this lol

I don't see you getting hate here, what I see is others pointing out that you are making generalizations about groups of people in a way that reads like a statement of fact. If you would have simply stated, "It's my opinion that Americans like to shoot people." instead of "Americans like to shoot people" I think you'd have a lot less arguments here. I don't want to be stereotyped because of the actions of others in my region/country/or state, I believe others likely feel the same way. I think using stereotypes and generalizations for any group of people shows a lack of maturity and understanding.

As I said I do not want to stereotype anyone.
Of course it my opinion I have that right
But the fact is people jump to conclusions on a innocent post.
I did not state anything as fact.
Wow come on guys

I just typed up a big rant about the problem with gun violence in the US. Then I realized it would make a better vlog so I deleted it. Just incase anyone wants a sneak preview the problem is kids and even most young adults are big hairy pussies these days. Tune in to my Youtube channel if you care to hear more. If you don't like dirty words you too are a big, bleeding vagina and you might not want to watch.

Cool I am also going post a vlog on what I mean and if anyone wants to question so be it. My opinion is my opinion and no one can change that. If people get offend for what ever reason they can stop listening. I am not out to stereotype people or offend anyone but there's always someone has to cause hell.
If people want to try and change my opinion and present me with crap to try and change my opinion; ha they can walk on.
Sorry if people get offended but that's society today.
I mean because us British people all go round drinking tea and eating crumpets according to other countys ( including SOME! Americans)
Thats life people need to stop getting offended
Oh well he said something about America, HMMM I SHOULD BE OFFENDED please
