How do I change my NATIONAL FLAG ICON on my avatar? I need to ditch the Malaysia flag for USA.. USA.... USA..... :) ;). Serious question, though. Can you assist @dandolittle?

It seriously bugs me that it gets pulled from my IP.

It's a massive security issue because if my flag changes (as it did) to, say, the Portuguese flag when I'm abroad, then people who know my name on here will know I'm not at home and ripe for burglary!

It's such a shame it's done that way, and it means I'm likely to never post when I'm abroad again.

Same as your neighbours knowing you go on holiday then

They don't know when I'm on holiday, and even if they did it's a massive difference between them knowing and broadcasting it to everyone online.

With the whole swatting thing being an issue for live streamers, this is actually a pretty serious issue and not one you should just ignore.

At least let us choose whether to display the flag or not if you don't want to allow us to manually choose the location.

It will be on my to do list. It's been like that since we changed from the crappy (and buggy) forum software.

On the other hand to your comment. From time to time we get affiliates or people trying to get vloggers to sell stuff for them. Twice they've claimed they're from America or the UK but the IP check showed otherwise, for me that's the bigger issue.
When you're on holiday, simply use an proxy

Glad you're going to sort it out :)

I didn't mean to come across as aggressive, but my previous job was in Computer Forensics so I know the impact these seemingly insignificant things can cause.

Moto Vloggers are particularly susceptible as they are among the easiest group of people to ID (I previously got the names and addresses of Spicy110 and Baron von Grumble after just a few minutes searching!), and almost always have a nice bike to nick. I'm genuinely just looking out for all of us rather than trying to cause trouble.

This is playing devil's advocate here, but what's stopping the marketers from using proxy's too? While I have no issues using proxies, I imagine the vast majority of members here wouldn't know how to do it on their phones, and it's everyone's security I'm looking out for rather than just my own.

I run an internet marketing business and well aware of the legit people using proxies ;)

We have maybe one spammer every month these days. As said, it may be something I'll look at in the future but its far from the top as it isn't a bug.
