Welcome to DudeofIB

Hi @DudeofIB,

Welcome to MotoVlog.com.
Where are you from? What do you ride? Say hello, what do you like? Why are you here?

Got a photo of your bike?
Hello & thank you for the warm welcome! My name is Jay and I live in Imperial Beach, California. I started recording my rides last year and long story short I want to learn more about how to capture and present the experience. I found these forums whilst searching for a community where I could learn from others.

I ride a 2013 H-D Sportster 1200v Seventy-Two. I just recently added a larger tank with a custom paint job that will give me some more range. My dog Larry (rescue dog from San Diego) rides with me most of the time now and we're heading out to Sturgis this weekend! We'll be riding and camping along a route that will include Route 66, Monument Valley, Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower and my buddy Scott's house. :)

Thank you again for the warm welcome!!

Welcome and I like the Doggles your passenger is wearing:cool:

The Seventy-Two is a nice Sporty version for sure. I drooled on a couple back when they were in the Hard Candy paintjobs from the factory with that fat metal flake. H-D did good with those retro styles.

We use the Kuyrakyn Grand Pet Palace and it's been great. Plenty of room for Larry to stand up or lay down!

Re: the paint job, I had to take the stock gold flake 2.1 gal tank off. Beautiful tank but too small for my adventures. I replaced it with a 4.5 gal off a '15 Sportster custom. Probably sacrilege to take that tank off but I wanted the range.

I remember back in the early 90s folks swapping the peanut tanks out for a Kingbob tank to get better range. I have seen more recent aftermarket 3.1 gallon peanut tanks. Even the 2003 1200C had 3.3 peanut tank.

I guess Harley was trying to make the 72 look more custom with the smaller tanks.

But you right, range is important especially out in the sticks or west of the Mississippi here in the states.
