Learning from everyone.
Hi motovloggers,

Just to check out if most people watch from their mobile phones or Computer? This Question leads to "Does 4K matters? if everyone is watching from mobile any 1080p or 720p video already look great on mobile" what are you thoughts ? Beside able to corp into details in 4k.

Hiya, I normally watch on a PC and my monitor supports 4K, and I encourage folk to upload in the highest resolution they can. 60fps should be utilized though as 30fps can be a bit juddery. if uploaded in 4K then folk can watch in the resolution their monitor supports.... YouTube also seems to render the 4K stuff better so when viewed in 1080 it looks nicer than if it was uploaded at 1080

How about your friends ? do they mostly watch from PC or mobile?

I think generally most people watch via their mobiles, they have them with them 100% of the time. Personally, I like to savour what I watch and have it on a big screen and in stereo, so generally only watch on my PC

Right now in my office. not able to watch video audio hahaa. Will be watching your vids later once I've reached home.

I would normally watch on PC, and probably on tablet at home. Not much on mobile cause I don't have a huge data mobile plan, and watching on phones the screen is too small for me I guess.

It's also interesting to see the difference in behaviours between the devices. For me, phones underperform, tablets overperform, and computers are flat.

Mobile: 47% of watch time, 50% of views
Desktop: 39% of watchtime, 39% of views
Tablet: 9.7% of watchtime, 8.4% of views

The list is PC, phone, and tablet for me. And as I live in a country, where the internet speed is worse than many countries, I record and upload my vids up to 1080p. Even with this option, everyone I know uses 480p generally.

I watch on my phone during the week and PC on the weekends.

Analytics for my own channel have PC at 73% though.

I'd like to hope YouTube add the analytic of resolution one day.

That would be interesting to see what resolution is viewed.

I watch on my phone primarily with some through my AppleTV Youtube App on a big screen. Rarely ever watch it on a PC as I spend most of my day behind a computer and just don't want to.

Most people watch from mobile but you'll have a better chance of keeping the PC users if you upload in a higher resolution. Every viewer counts.

aye and those that watch on devices that can't do 4k etc will still get a better experience watching 4k vids at 1080 over watching 1080 vids at 1080 as they still have a better bitrate.

I usually have videos going in the background while at work, kinda like you would with podcasts and when I'm working in the shop I'll play videos through an HDMI adapter from my phone to a small TV.
Most of the folks who watch my videos tend to watch on mobile with a few streaming it to their TV's as well.
