Hi @Dnljmrs,

Welcome to MotoVlog.com.
Where are you from? What do you ride? Say hello, what do you like? Why are you here?

Got a photo of your bike?

Hi!
I'm Daniel, from South Wales and currently (well not quite currently with the pandemic) learning to ride!
I'm 33 and always always wanted to ride..ever since I was about 6 or 7. And after 16 years of trying to persuade my wife to let me, she has finally given in.
So I don't currently ride but I'm hoping in the near future when this has passed, I can get on with learning with a direct access course cbt was booked for the 24th March and on the 23rd Boris gave his instructions for lockdown.. Talk about bad timing. My intention was to learn for commuting (about 35mi each way) and I am looking at a cbr 600 f (probably 2001/2002 or similar.

I follow quite a few vloggers on YouTube and thought when I get into it, I can give this a go too,so really here for to get involved and pick up tips and tricks ☺ I hope you're all keeping well during this period. Stay safe
D

Hay @Dnljmrs welcome to the forum. We are in a real rubbish situation regarding the lockdown, especially in the UK.... but it will hopefully help speed up our countries recovery so you can get that CBT sorted, and then your test.
Although I don't think he is a member on here, take a gander at Spicy110 as he has concentrated on the 125cc bike even though he has a full licence, and is an awesome chap.
The CBR600 has had many updates, I used to own a CBR600F myself, it was "W" reg iirc and was a cracking bike.... mine was tha last of the carbed bikes I think, they went Fi after which made servicing a lot cheaper

Thanks for the welcome! Just have to ride the waves for now I guess.
I'll have a look at your suggestion too, thanks ☺.
As for bikes, I've done quite a bit of reading into what would be a decent starter and one that has longer term factors for many. I was looking at the bandit 650, and gsx650f (which not many people seem to like!). I think the cbr600f has a good mix of enough power for motorway riding and to get you out of trouble, but fun at the same time while still not being too aggressive a riding position for general every day use.. And not too big an engine to be a silly first big bike. I was speaking to a friend who has one, he has the first gen fuel injection and he absolutely loves it. Just itching to get on now haha

all of those would be great, although I think the 650's you mentioned will probs not be A2 compliant so you'd need to do the full power licence. TBH, I am not up to speed on the new licencing rules, I passed my test on a 100cc bike and was allowed to ride anything after, but that was man many moons ago! :D

Possibly! I'm just going to use whatever the people deliver the training provide for the tests tbh..then I'll get my own after :)
I can't imagine doing a test on a 125 and then riding out on a 600 lol..crazy different I'd imagine! Thats my take on the US system though, they just do a safety test (like our CBT?) then they can ride whatever they want? I hope that I'm wrong in my assumptions though.
Oh well, looking forward to doing it - I've been watching hours and hours of videos of the Mod1 and 2 tests..so hopefully it'll feel a little bit familiar when I come to do them
