I keep getting an error, cannot post links blah blah, when there are no links in my message!

Grr

Hey guys,

I am a newbie motovlogger - i am based in the UK

Can someone tell me,

Is it safe to put up footage of my rides, as you can see the speedo, and I usually go slightly over (80 in a 60) sometimes faster to overtake multiple cars..

Am I likely to get banned from driving if I put up videos? Or do I have to stick to a super boring ride and not go an inch over 60mph when Im on camera?

Cheers!

Luke

Hi Luke.

Links are not permitted for 3 days or until you reach 15 posts, whichever is longer. This is to prevent forum spam.

Please post any videos in to the Post Your Videos section only, rules are in there for further info, but please note the 3 day/15 post rule applies first.

Please feel free to browse the forum and join the community that is motovlog.com, the more you put in the more you get out. Any questions please PM me @Lurch or @dandoolittle

Welcome and enjoy!

Welcome to the forum!

Most people post videos of them going faster than the actual speed limit. It's not against the rules to post a video of yourself speeding if that's what you are asking.

Thanks, I know its not against youtubes rules, but I am in the UK, the police here are very sharp, and I am asking is there any other UK vloggers who have had any experience in this?

Depends if it's in the publics interest to track you down blah blah

If you're worrie don't speed or by a phone privacy screen and stick it on ya speedo if it's digital

Of course, if you don't want to get done, there's three things you can do.

1. Stick to the speed limit
2. Don't upload it
3. Obscure your speedo as Dan said, or blur it in your editor. However, not foolproof as the Police once worked out the speed of someone from a CCTV camera.

Welcome to the forum! usually you dont have to worry about speeding on camera as long as you're not running from the cops or doing things that would make the police to try and search for you to bring you in...

Ride Safe!

Thanks guys, but my local police dept are scum!

They have just announced a stop and search any bike they like policy to try and crack down on bikers coming to our county.

But surely If my number plate isnt in the video, and my face isn't, and I upload it using TOR

How could they possibly PROVE it was me?

You're not in E.Yorks are you? I know they're cracking down.

Still stands, they might not track you via YT, but even the slightest clue that it's you, they'll use it as evidence if they catch you for something else.

Long and short. If you are that concerned, don't put it up. They probably won't bother for a bit over, I've you been a complete idiot and it comes to their attention (do gooder may spot the area and report the video) then they'll consider making note of what they can about you from your vids and piece it together.

I don't cover the speedo, my question would be, can they take action against you if you can't pin-point the time and date (which is why video time stamp is a big NO for me) of the alleged offense? Also, they only have that footage that doesn't show you/your face or your bike (registration and all) going over the limit.

I'm not a lawyer nor do I know the law well but I feel that just having footage of the speedo going over the limit is not enough evidence without other supporting factors like time, date, registration, witnesses, etc.

If blurring out the speedo is too tedious perhaps using some privacy film strip (like for laptop screens) on it would make the speedo hard to see on video.
