Hey all!

My name is John, I'm from Missouri in the US of A. Been thinking about dabbling in moto vlogging. At least recording some of my rides for my own purposes (would be fun). Thought I could get some tips around here and see if it's something I want to do or not!

I've been riding for a couple of years, ride about 20k a year. I do commute with my bike as well. I ride a Vulcan (Cruiser) that's got all sorts of touring acoutrements on it (Hard saddlebags, harley trunk, soon to be trailer, etc.). My wife and I both LOVE touring with our bikes. I thought it might be fun to motovlog because the kind of riding I do doesn't seem to be the kind of riding the majority of motovloggers do. Not that it's any better, but it is different, so maybe some folks would want to watch it? Basically I live in a rural area, don't spend any time riding in the city if I can at ALL avoid it, and love to find twisty rural roads with great views. And, also, doing that on a touring cruiser, not a sportbike.

I dunno, maybe everyone on YouTube would PREFER to watch the sportbikes and stuff. I sure enjoy it! But I figured, I'm a little different, so maybe folks will want to see something a little different?

There are enough sport bike videos on YouTube. Bring on the standards and the cruisers. I'd get a chopper and vlog the hell out of it if I lived in a sunnier climate.

The variety of bikes in the vlogging community is something that can grow from some diversity. There are lots of dual sports, enduros, and sport bikes. I am one of the few H-D vloggers...at least that I am aware of.

Could be cool to have a cruiser as the vehicle of choice, although to be honest I think it's more about the views/rider than the bike.
I've recently started vlogging too and honestly it's just a way to give people an insight into me as a person, and I just so happen to be doing it whilst on my motorbike. That's a good thing though because I am happiest when I am on the SV, it's my "happy place"

Well, the riding style is certainly different. You're not gonna see me lane splitting or hugging the corners or getting up super close to cars in my big wide cruiser with hard saddlebags and a trunk and a huge windshield. It may be 'only a 900' but the frame size on this bike is actually a bit longer and wider than even H-D's big touring bikes. It's a big ol' bike loaded down. That said, I've been known to scrape floorboards and take some corners- but I'm more of a lazy take-in-the-scenery rider. Don't know if anyone would want to watch that, but who knows? Nobody else is doing it so if they do wanna watch it, how would I know? There are some cruisers on the YouTubez, but the ones I've seen have been in urban areas. Others may be different, but me personally, I don't find stop-and-go traffic and riding in between tall buildings to be particularly interesting.

Trying to decide on a camera right now. Weather is still pretty cold, but who knows, I may get some videos up... I've been wanting to record my own rides for some time and I'm not particularly concerned if other folks want to watch them, but I've been kind of intrigued by the whole vlogger thing and just kind of testing the waters to see if it's worth taking the time to edit, think of a topic to talk about, and post to YouTube. I already have a handful of rides recorded, my wife likes to sit behind me (when she's not riding hers) and film with the DSLR.

I also ride with a group and thought maybe some people would like to see what it's like to do some staggered formation riding with a dozen or so bikes. I also ride with the Patriot Guard (group here in the states who escort fallen soldiers, firefighter, EMS, police, biker, etc. when asked by the family.) There you're riding with maybe 200 flag-wielding motorcycles of all types!
